Setting up PassKub takes more than just signing in — each operating system has its own permission/settings screen that unlocks autofill, biometrics, and notifications. Follow the steps for every device you use PassKub on.

To sync across devices you need two things to match, not one: sign in with the same account (Google, Apple, Microsoft, or your organization's SSO) and unlock every device at least once with the same master keypass. Your keypass is what your vault's encryption key is derived from — signing into the same account alone is not enough to decrypt a synced vault on a new device. Biometric or PIN unlock is a local convenience layered on top; it never replaces the master keypass the first time a device joins sync.

Android
  • Autofill service — go to Settings → Passwords, passkeys & autofill and set PassKub as your preferred autofill service (also enable it as an additional provider if your device shows that separately). Without this, no PassKub suggestions appear when you tap a login field in other apps.
  • Biometric unlock — enroll a fingerprint or face in Android's own Settings first. Without it, tapping a suggestion falls back to opening the full app and typing your master keypass.
  • Notifications — allow notifications so Quick Fill, cloud sync, and delivery-route alerts can reach you.
  • Known Chrome limitation — when Chrome's own "Autofill Services" setting is switched away from Chrome's built-in autofill, Chrome stops parsing forms entirely, so no third-party autofill service (not just PassKub) gets invoked. If PassKub isn't offering suggestions specifically inside Chrome, check for a Chrome update or try another browser — PassKub's own autofill works correctly everywhere else.
iOS
  • Password AutoFill — go to Settings → Passwords → AutoFill Passwords (or Settings → General → AutoFill & Passwords) and enable PassKub as a password provider. This is required for tap-to-fill in Safari and other apps.
  • Face ID / Touch ID — must be enrolled. AutoFill unlocks your cached vault key with a fresh biometric check only; there is no in-place master keypass entry inside the AutoFill extension. If no biometric is enrolled, or you haven't unlocked the full app at least once yet, iOS falls back to opening the PassKub app directly.
macOS
  • Password AutoFill — go to System Settings → Passwords and enable PassKub as an AutoFill provider (same mechanism as iOS above).
  • Touch ID — same design as iOS: biometric-gated, no master-keypass fallback inside the AutoFill extension itself.
  • Quick Fill hotkey — works independently of AutoFill: set a global hotkey in the app to pop up a search-and-fill window from anywhere on the desktop.
Windows
  • No native autofill API exists on Windows. Unlike Android and Apple platforms, Windows has no OS-level autofill service for third-party apps to plug into — this is a platform limitation, not a missing PassKub feature. Use the built-in global hotkey "Quick Fill" popup instead: press your configured hotkey, search, and PassKub types the credential into whatever field was last focused.
  • Windows Hello sign-in tile (Credential Provider) — an advanced, optional feature. After installing it, click "Ready" on the PassKub sign-in tile to start polling (it never auto-starts), then approve the 2-digit code shown from another already-unlocked device, then click Submit yourself (it never auto-submits).
  • Notifications — install PassKub with the official installer (not an ad-hoc dev build) so toast notifications correctly relaunch the app when clicked.
  • Importing existing Windows Credential Manager entries requires an explicit in-app prompt after you unlock — there's nothing to enable in Windows Settings itself for this.
Chrome / Edge
  • Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons, then make sure it's enabled at chrome://extensions (or edge://extensions) — no extra OS permission is required.
  • Optional: OS credential detection — install the separate native messaging host ("native helper", Windows/macOS only) if you want PassKub to detect credentials saved in your OS/other password managers, not just what's already open in a tab.
  • See the Android section above if you're trying to get PassKub autofill working inside Chrome on Android specifically — that's a separate, Chrome-app-level setting from this desktop extension.
Firefox
  • Install from addons.mozilla.org and enable it — no special OS permission required. The same native-helper option described above for Chrome/Edge (Windows/macOS only) is also available for OS credential detection.
Safari
  • Go to Safari → Settings → Extensions and enable PassKub.
  • Camera/QR scanning and biometric unlock behavior on Safari follow the same macOS/iOS AutoFill setup described above — enabling PassKub as a Password AutoFill provider is what makes Safari's own autofill offer PassKub entries.
